Bio:
James Shultis serves as the Pride Center’s Youth Program Coordinator. James has a varied professional background including arts administration, community organizing, farming in the Pacific Northwest, and working as a NYC bike messenger. As a youth, James started a Gay-Straight Alliance at his high school, working to provide information and community for other LGBTQ folks. After graduating, he worked as a lead organizer and facilitator of two LGBTQ campus groups, one dedicated to promoting visibility and inclusion of transgender and gender non-conforming people, the other a Queer Alliance.
Besides his job at the Center, James is an accomplished poet and literary editor. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Queens College; and a BA from Hunter College in English Literature and Gender Studies. James is proud to be a part of the Pride Center’s rich history, working to empower its youth and encourage the larger community. He currently resides in Albany.
