The Pride Center has offered direct and supportive services since the founding of our agency. The Center Support program is vital to our mission of empowering our community. Center Support offers a wide range of diverse services for individuals, families, groups and the general community of all ages and needs. We are excited about the continued expansion of these services and thank the many volunteers and community members who help make Center Support a successful program of the Pride Center.
The Rainbow Café Drop-in Center is our oldest program and continues to offer resources, information and fun events year round. Our weekly Men’s and Women’s Group are run by dedicated volunteer facilitators where attendees receive support and have space to discuss issues important to their lives. For six years now, the Pride Center has joined with the University at Albany’s School of Social Welfare to offer low-cost psychotherapy services to the LGBTQ community in the Capital Region for individuals, couples and families. This year, our two Masters-Level Interns are continuing to see a case load of four-six clients each. We also refer several individuals and families for mental health services to culturally-competent providers in the community each month. With the addition of our newest staffer as our first ever Mental Health Specialist this past March; our Center Support Program has continued to flourish.
In July, we marked the launch of Case Management Services at the Pride Center – a first of its kind program for the Capital Region to offer affordable, individualized assistance to community members for a variety of health and human service needs. We knew there was a need for Case Management Services in our community and the reality of that need has become ever more apparent. Since the launch of Case Management Services only two months ago, we have begun working with over ten clients for everything from housing support, employment, transition, legal services, medical needs, and more. Our clients range in age, gender identity, race, income, and many other factors. It is an honor for the Pride Center to work with our clients as they move forward living healthier, more stable lives.
