Based on community need and energy, the Pride Center supports new and innovative programming that is responsive to current issues facing LGBT people.
2012 Emerging Programs include:
Center Families
The Center Families Program is dedicated to connecting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer headed households in the Capital Region by providing social opportunities for LGBTQ families, support, advocacy, and access to culturally competent community child care and family resources and services. Through the Center Families Program we work to educate and empower LGBTQ parents to be advocates for their families. The Pride Center of the Capital Region envisions a safe and thriving environment for LGBTQ families so that they are valued and feel safe enough to be visible in our communities. LGBTQ families should be physically and emotionally healthy and legally secure. They should live without fear, stigma or isolation.
Social and Educational Opportunities
Center Families provides social networking opportunities for LGBTQ families to offer support, opportunities for new friends, and a sense of community for both adults and children. Center Families also provides educational programs for LGBTQ Parents including informative and supportive discussions and presentations on issues related to parenting as an LGBTQ person such as navigating school systems and financial planning.
