Description: Attend several youth events planned for the year including Alternative Prom, the Frostbite Ball, and the Back to School Barbecue. Center Youth Program Chaperones will assist in maintaining a safe environment for all participants at events. This includes ensuring participants are adhering to Pride Center community agreements; respecting policies of the event space (if at an outside venue); are familiar with the emergency protocol; can maintain healthy boundaries between youth; and if needed, be a support to youth who are in crisis.

Requirements: 
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Background check required
  • Follow guidelines provided by Youth Program Manager
  • Experience working with youth preferred
  • Training will be provided quarterly

Description: T-Talk is our new Trans* & Gender Non-Conforming youth group at the Pride Center. Facilitators will co-facilitate this new youth group while at the same time provide a safe and respectable space for youth, ages 18 & under who identify as Trans*, Genderqueer, Intersex, Agender, Bigender, Gender Non-Conforming, or questioning. The facilitators for this group will be participating in the activities that the group is putting on throughout the year.

Important Information: These positions MAY include a paid stipend.

Requirements:
  • Must be 21 and older
  • Previous experience with youth is necessary.
  • Experience facilitating groups is required
  • Experience working with youth of color, young people of different genders and queer of Trans* youth is ideal.
  • Be familiar with issues of power, oppression and social justice.
  • Experience in peer mediation, nonviolent communication and conflict resolution is preferred.
  • Training will be offered quarterly

Description: LGBTQA+ Youth Group Facilitators will provide leadership and support to the Pride Center’s LGBTQA+ Youth Groups. Facilitators will be responsible for several duties including ensuring orderly and engaging sessions, creating a respectful and confidential atmosphere for all youth, follow all Group rules and enforce the Rights and Responsibilities with Youth Group members, maintaining appropriate paperwork on Youth members (i.e. Intake Forms and Sign-in/Sign Outs), and Reporting any incidents in Youth Group, or outside of Group, to Pride Center staff. The facilitators for this group will be participating in the activities that the group is putting on throughout the year.

Requirements:
  • Must be 21 and older
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Group facilitation and management skills
  • Patience and decisiveness
  • Ability to maintain and convey a high degree of confidentiality while representing the organization in managing risks.
  • Previous experience with youth is necessary.
  • Experience in peer mediation, nonviolent communication and conflict resolution is preferred.
  • Commit to serving as a Youth Facilitator for 12 consecutive months (1 year), staffing Youth Group at least once a month (at the Pride Center and/or Proctors). At the 6-month mark, your involvement will be evaluated and together we will determine whether you will continue serving as a Facilitator.

Description: Be present at our weekly Drop-In Space (Fridays 3-7PM) and assist with overseeing and ensuring the smooth run of all Drop-In Space activities/necessities. AYO Interns will maintain the integrity of AYO by reinforcing the space rules and making certain that it is a safe environment for all youth that come into space. This includes engaging with the youth and staff, being knowledgeable of the mission of the Community Partnerships for Youth Empowerment as well as the Pride Center. They should also be familiar with the emergency protocol, maintain healthy boundaries between youth and should be able to support youth in crisis. Tasks can include but are not limited to: Cooking, Cleaning, Greeting, HIV Rapid Testing, General support and more!

Requirements:
  • Must be 19 years of age
  • Follow guidelines provided by Street Outreach Workers
  • Experience working with youth preferred
  • Training will be provided upon start
  • Must be comfortable assisting with cleaning, and other chores
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality outside of the space
  • Commit to serving as an intern for at least 6 consecutive months
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of gender and sexuality as well as some knowledge in other intersecting identities
  • Must pass background check
  • Must be available Friday evenings
