Task: Advancement Council Member

Description:
The purpose of the Advancement Council (the “Council” from henceforth) is to assist with the creation and implementation of a dynamic resource development program in order to market the mission of the Pride Center and raise the necessary operating funds.

Goals:
Goals of the Committee include, but are not necessarily limited to…
Broaden the visibility of the Center’s mission.
Increase and enhance engagement with exiting constituencies while expanding the organizational donor base.
Mobilize leaders within the community to spread knowledge of the Center’s ongoing goals and ways in which to support them.
Illustrate the value the Center brings to the community as a whole.
Provide names and addresses for individuals for the Center to utilize for communication materials.

Membership Responsibilities and Expectations: 
Attendance at Council meetings (Meetings occur once every month)
Provide relevant insight into topics discussed at regular meetings
Identify ways in which the Center can increase its visibility in the community
Assist the Center in securing and stewarding meaningful relationships within the community
Follow up with personal contacts who have been added to the Center’s mailing list
Assist with the promotion of, and sale of tickets for all (6) Special Events.
Serve on the sub-committee for the Special Event of your choice, and for the Gala.
Share personal connections and business contacts.

Task: Finance Committee Member

Description:
The Finance Committee is responsible for coordinating the Pride Center’s budgeting, auditing, investments, and related financial activities. The Committee also provides oversite of the Pride Center’s financial operations. Some examples of Finance Committee activities and duties include: work with senior staff to create upcoming fiscal year budget, prepare an annual budget for the organization, and monitor the implementation of the approved budget and the preparation of the Pride Center’s tax returns.

Requirements:
Attend monthly committee meetings
Be prepared for meetings
Dedicate 3-5 hours each month to the committee work
Serve as Pride Center Ambassador
Preferred experience includes: accounting, budgeting and/or investment management with audits and the audit processes, nonprofit corporations and finance, insurance, and understanding of risk management processes.
General Meeting Date: Third Tuesday of the Month

Task: Goverance Committee Member

Description:
The Governance Committee assists with recruiting, nominating, orientating, training and evaluating members of the board. This committee also helps to ensure that the Pride Center is adhering to bylaws and policies and procedures. Examples of Governance Committee activities and duties include: create a short and long term recruitment strategy, develop and annually review Board recruitment procedures, develop and revise Board member handbook, and conduct sessions for new board members and organize training sessions for the entire board.

Requirements:
Attend monthly committee meetings
Be prepared for meetings
Dedicate 5 hours each month to committee work
Serve as Pride Center Ambassador
Serve as Governance adviser to Pride Center staff and board
General Meeting Date: 3rd Wednesday of the month
