2014 Scholarship Recipients

AJ Rio-Glick, Bard College at Simon’s Rock

AJ has been an active participant at the Pride Center for over 4 years and a Center Youth Action Team (CYAT) member. While in High School, he served as a Pride Center Liaison and active member of his school’s Pride Alliance. He is also very involved in theater and music. AJ is currently an early–admission freshman at Bard College at
Simon’s Rock majoring in Creative Writing.

Anna Brewer, The Doane Stuart School

Anna  has shown her strength and commitment to LGBTQ rights by founding her school’s GSA as well as serving on the board for two LGBTQ inclusive organizations. In those capacities, she has advocated for gender neutral housing and bathrooms, both campaigns have been successful. Anna will be attending Brandeis University this fall, and is looking towards social policy and social justice as a major.

Taylor Keith, Albany Leadership Charter High School for Girls

Taylor has been an energetic  participant in many of the Pride Center’s programs over the years, including the CYAT. Taylor is very active in her community through various organizations, and especially passionate about anti-bullying.  She also served as the President of her school’s GSA. Taylor will be attending SUNY Geneseo majoring in Biology to become a Forensic Anthropologist or Paleontologist.

Troy O’Neill, Tech Valley High School

Troy has been a passionate advocate for LGBTQ equality and awareness for most of his high school career. He started a student
action group focused on  minority issues with a focus on the LGBTQ community, sexual health, HIV/AIDS, among others. He is also a CYAT member. Troy will be attending The New School’s Eugene Lang College double majoring in Philosophy and Literary Studies.
