Albany Gay Men’s Chorus

The Albany Gay Men’s Chorus was founded in 2008 and seeks to entertain and enlighten by creating high quality music in the rich tradition of male choral singing. The Chorus strives to promote pride in and acceptance of the gay community and endeavors to build bridges by making positive contributions to the greater Capital Region.

The Albany Gay Men’s Chorus generally performs two major concerts per year, one in the Spring and another at holiday time. In addition, the Chorus
performs at various times of the year with other local choral groups that include the College of St. Rose Women’s Chorale and the St. Andrew’s Church Choir in Albany. A portion of the proceeds of the bi-annual concerts is donated to local charity groups such as the Damien Center, Our Brothers’ Keepers Foundation and the Overflow Shelter for the Capital Area Council of Churches. The group also provides a meal each year to this homeless shelter located at the First Lutheran Church of Albany. The Chorus performs a mix of classical and pop music, and includes gay-themed pieces and works by gay composers.
