We were saddened and dismayed to hear the recent homophobic views expressed by George Langdon, an elected Albany County Legislator directed to LGBTQ+ Communities. Langdon’s outrageous, insensitive, and blatant homophobic statements do not have a place in our community. An elected official that holds such contemptuous views for any resident based on sexuality, gender, or race should not hold a seat in City, County, or State government.

Currently, the United States is 51+ years since the Stone Wall March, and we should be far past these types of comments by an elected official. As far as we have all come, our organizations still have much critical work to do for our communities especially, LGB/TGNC Black, Indigenous, People of Color. We request the resignation of Mr. Langdon and welcome a dialogue of discussion of the impact of his homophobic statements on Albany County Residents.
