Attention, attention! The Pride Center’s LGBTQA Scholarship for High School Seniors!

Category: General,Upcoming Events — Tags: , , , , , — Pride Center of the Capital Region @ 12:30 pm

ScholarshipWe are still accepting applications for the LGBTQA Scholarship, sponsored by The Pride Center!!! This scholarship is intended to help Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Trans*, Queer/Questioning (LGBTQA) students and their allies who exemplify leadership, academic achievement and commitment to LGBTQA equality.

Scholarships of up to $2,500 will be offered to at least four graduating high school seniors who have been accepted at two or four year accredited colleges or universities. Applications will be reviewed by a committee tasked with assessing the following; academic record, commitment to the LGBTQ community as demonstrated by past activity and future ambitions, financial need and the quality and content of the personal statement. As a substitute for the personal statement, you have the option of creating your own creative personal work which tells us who you are as a member of the LGBTQ community, using the medium of your choice.

We all know how tough it can be to navigate finances, so we’re happy to say these scholarship funds may cover tuition, books, supplies (including technology), room and board, transportation, or living expenses. We’re looking forward to providing this opportunity to LGBTQ and allied seniors graduating this year!

Please help us spread the word! If you know an LGBTQ identified or allied senior in high school who would be a good candidate for this scholarship, please contact James Shultis, Youth Program Assistant by email at, or call 462-6138, ext. 15.

Applications for the 2014 Pride Center Youth Scholarship are due Friday, May 2!
